Rebuilt boyhood home of statesman Cordell Hull.

This is the log cabin boyhood home of Cordell Hull, secretary of state under Franklin Delano Roosevelt, whose work toward the establishment of the United Nations won him the Nobel Peace Prize in 1945. Born in 1871, Hull received his law degree from Cumberland University in Lebanon in 1891. As a member of Congress he is best known as the author of the income tax law (1913). In 1933, he became secretary of state and served longer than any other man in history. He was the author of the Good Neighbor Policy towards Latin America. He retired in 1944 after holding office for eleven years and died in 1955 in his 83rd year. This site includes the cabin with many personal items, pictures, letters, and books belonging to Hull. The cabin was dismantled and rebuilt in 1957, using most of the original logs.
